HAWKINSVILLE BREWPUB CHARRETTE
44 South Lumpkin Street
The proposed site is 44 South Lumpkin Street. It sits in downtown Hawkinsville between the Opera House and the Chamber of Commerce office. This site is ideal because of its location and the ability for the community to get food at the take out window for lunch, unwind with family and friends after a long day, or have a special evening before and after attending a show at the Opera House.
A goal we wish to accomplish is to create a cohesive design and blend the indoor and outdoor spaces. As mentioned, we proposed a take-out window at the front of the building to provide minimal interaction, which is both convenient and a COVID safety measure. On the other side of the front entrance, there will be counter seating with vertical folding windows, a nod to the industrial history of the town, for when the weather is nice. The interiors should reflect a relaxed, familiar environment for the community or those visiting the town for the first time.
When one parks in the back parking lot and makes their way to the outdoor space in the back or the “backyard,” they will first be greeted by a family-friendly area that includes various outdoor games that all ages can enjoy. After, picnic benches are placed in front of a stage where local artists can perform for the customers of the brewpub. There is also more intimate seating on the side of the building for those wanting to hear the ambiance of the outdoors while having some privacy.
